Best of 2012: A year in Review

We are all looking forward to some of the great titles we have on the horizon for 2013, some of which can be found in the blog here. But we can't forget some of the greatness that was brought to us on our Vita's and PS3's this year.

Here are our top 5 games

5. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
Taking place in the year 2025, CODBO2 improved on all of the greatness from the original Black Ops while adding new features like choose your own adventure type sequences where the outcome of your choices will determine not only the game course itself but also the endings. Zombies returned to Black Ops 2 with their own storyline mode as opposed to a survival mode found in the previous game. The online functionality was greatly improved and added new features that make the replay value of the game even better. Chances are people will be even more excited about prestiging in this game than ever before.

4. Tekken Tag Tournament
Tekken Tag, which you can read our blog about here, brought back our favorite characters and put them together in a new fangled way with new game modes and revamped move lists. The added online feature allowed gamers to practice their skils in the lobby while waiting for an opponent as opposed to siting staring at the screen like most fighting games. Tekken brought the heat with this game and left us waiting patitently for the next installment. Until then, gamers can also enjoy Street Fighter X Tekken which you can read about over here.

3. Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition
After being purchased by Warner Brothers, the fate of the franchise was up in the air and classic fans worried about how the game would stack up against the rest. Gamers were pleasantly surprised with the initial release and those that waited were happy with the Komplete Edition while some of the gamers who purchased the original release were annoyed with the fact they had to purchase the game again. On the bright side, whichever version you had, you could trust on the goriest fatalities and funniest babalities this side of the equator. Mortal Kombat brought back a big chunk of the story's favorites and pitted them in a battle against the all powerful Shao Khan. It was seen as a remake to the original and changed some of the storylines which had some faithfuls up in arms but for the most part, Mortal Kombat was seen as one of the greatest fighters to date.

2. Final Fantasy XIII-2
While the game does not compare on the storyline level that other FF's do, the actual gameplay blows games away.
With action-cutscenes and choose your own adventure style questions, the game felt more complete than ever before and also gives users the chance to see what happened to some of our favorites after the previous battle seen in FFXIII. For more information on the game and other Final Fantasies, head over here.

1. Resident Evil 6

You could have guessed it, Resident Evil 6 brought much light to this gamers life and many other seen around the world. The game was a fast paced action game pitting Resident Evil 6 was an amazing game that made gamers think, fight and run throughout the stages. A definate 10 on the gaming scale and looking forward to the next game ASAP. For a more in depth look at the game, click here.

Thats it for 2012, with only a few weeks left, we aren't hopeful for anything big. 2013
will hopefully bring us more joy with Tomb Raider, the Last of Us and Metal Gear among others.

Until next time, keep gaming guys!

Playstation All Star Battle Royal: It's a family affair!

Whether you are a fan of Drake and his quips, Kratos and his swords or that adorable little sock puppet and his.... sock puppetness, Playstation All-Star Battle Royal has you covered.

Gamers squealed with excitement when they first encountered Super Smash Brothers for the Nintendo because it gave users the chance to use all their favorite Nintendo characters to wipe the floor with their friends. PASBR gives characters the same opportunities with Playstation's characters.

The game is similar to SSB in that you can battle with up to 4 characters in a last man standing brawl. It differs in that players damage their opponents for orbs which can be stored in a super move meter which can then be used as finishing moves against opponents. The game, like most fighting games, includes single player modes with storyline, and multiplayer modes like time attack, and most kills. As expected their is an online mode, so you can compete with people anywhere in the world.

The game has included functionality so Vita players can play against PS3 users and vice versa so gamers can continue battling on the go. The Vita version includes everything the PS3 version does as welll so gamers don't need to feel like they are missing out on any content as it does usually happen when porting home console to portable console games.

The game features many Playstation staples like Drake from Uncharted, Kratos from God of War, Sack Boy from Little Big Planet and Cole MacGrath from Infamous in his evil form. It also has multi-platform characters like Heihachi from Tekken, Raiden from Metal Gear and Big Daddy from Bioshock. The game also stated there will be downloadable characters as soon as early 2013 which will all be treated the same as the original characters with full storylines and minions.

Overall the game is a great way to pass the time and really takes advantage of the Vita/PS3 cross functionality which we have all been waiting for.

Graphics 9/10
Gameplay 8/10
Fun Factor 7.5/10
Replay Value 8/10
Overall 8/10
So if you are feeling the need to beat up some of your friends on your screen, pick up the title to enjoy the sweet sweet fighting goodness only Playstation All Star Battle Royal can offer. Until next, keep wiping the floor with your friends!

2013: What do we have waiting for us?

2012 was a great year for video games including a new Assassin's Creed, Halo, Final Fantasy and of course Resident Evil. But with such a good year, what do we have to look forward to next year. Today, lets talk a little bit about our most anticipated games coming up next year.

Years ago, Sony introduced us to Lara Croft, a sexy young woman who went on multiple adventures saving the world from certain demise each time. In nothing but her sports bra shirt and booty shorts, Lara braved all weathers and competitors and somehow always walked away unscathed.
Recently, SquareEnix purchased the rights to Tomb Raider and have decided to compeltely revamp the character, going back to the start and redoing the story. The preview for the new Tomb Raider is a much more adult look at her with the few short minutes being enough to make you sick with worry for our heroine. Recently people saw Lara as more of a joke character with less emphasis on the story getting better and more emphasis on how round (and big) they could make her boobs. Now the game focuses more on her story and making her look like a real person as opposed to a glorified blowup doll.
2013 looks like it will be a good year for Lara, reinventing her as an adventurer and not just another pretty face. The new Tomb Raider ranks high up on our most anticipated list.

Solid Snake has always kept us on our toes with his crazy antics and amazing gameplay. But the end of MGS 4 left us believing that Solid may not be able to be running out on many more missions. One of the few games that really did a great job on getting the player to feel for the characters, MGS 4 left more than a few players in tears with everything that happened. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance stars returning character, Raiden, as a cyborg ninja. It takes place 4 years after the previous Metal Gear title and has Raiden showing off some new tech after being left for dead by an opponent.
The game changes the from classic Metal Gear to a strictly action game. New features enable users to use Raiden's sword like never before, cutting through virtually anything with stunning precision.
Although we will all be missing Snake, Raider looks to be up to the challenge of fitting in his shoes for one game which leaves at least this guy anticipating this game for next year.

Uncharted has been one of Sony's most popular ventures. Naughty dog struck gold after Drakes first mission and every mission after that. Now, they are taking a break away to introduce us to Joel and Ellie, two survivors of a post apocolyptic world where the majority of the human race has been infected by a Fungus that causes them to be hostile towards other people. Don't go thinking zombie just yet, the concept from the game was actually adapted from Planet Earth, where a fungus had the power to infect and even control the mind of an ant.
Joel and Ellie have survived the initial outbreak but are now trying to find their way to safety. the game shows a bond created through neccessity and how two strangers from different ages and backgrounds can learn to help themselves and each other.
Probably my most anticipated game of 2013, The Last of Us is slated to hit shelves at some point in 2013 with no solid date granted but with multiple awards before the game has even been completed, it looks like we are in for quite the treat.

While I'm sure there are tons of other games that will leave all of us salivating next year, these three are what I'm hoping Santa will leave a pre-order copy of in my stocking this year. Have a good one guys and until next time, keep the anticipation alive!

Final Fantasy: Faith, Materia and Crystariums

Final Fantasy has been around for years. When SquareEnix (previously Squaresoft) created the first one, there was no way that they could have anticipated the success of the franchise. With over 13 original titles along with sequels and branch offs, Final Fantasy is one of the best known game franchises

All of the original titles have their own original story that do no connect with any of the previous games. They do have certain similarities, like the monsters that can be found, the animals as allys, the weapons and the name Cid, which is a name in every game for a character.

Final Fantasy VII is arguably the most well known game in the series. Focusing around Cloud, a mercenary for hire, he rejoins his childhood friend Tifa in order to revolt against Shinra who are using the life planet for use as an energy source. Cloud falls in love with Aerith, a flower girl who is also a master of white magic. In one of the most shocking turn of events in video game history, Aerith is murdered by Cloud's nemesis Sephiroth at the end of the first disc which set players into a frenzy who has spent time working up Aerith as a character and fallen in love with the sweet flower girl who stole the heart of our hero.
Final Fantasy VII revolutionized the RPG genre for video games and set the bar extremely high for any company that wanted release a RPG going forward.

Final Fantasy X was the tenth original installment and was my favorite of the game series. Focusing around Tidus, a man from the past who has come to the future to help defeat Sin; a monster that comes around every few years and destroys towns and cities. Yuna, a summoner, who calls on magical creatures to aid her in her battles, take Tidus as part of her team and together with a few more friends, they search for Sin. Along the way, Tidus learns the only way to defeat Sin is for the summoner to sacrifice her life in order to become Sin and eventually the evil presence will be reborn again only giving the people of the world a short reprieve from the horror that is Sin.
The game was in my opinion one of the best in the series combining both great graphics with amazing storylines. The game did a great job engulfing the users in the story, growing feelings for the characters and having actual emotional reactions to the things that happened to these characters. It was also the first game that had a part 2 to it as players were so emotional about the ending, they made a new one to amend it.

FF XIII and XIII-2 are the most recent games released from the franchise. The game revolves around Lightning, a girl who is searching for a way to save her sister who has been encased in ice. They are controlled by the fal'cie, beings with god-like powers who have branded Lightning and her friends as L'cie, people who are soley left alive to sacrifice themselves in order to save the planet (sound familiar?) Lightning and her other friends search for a way to not only save themselves but also their loved ones in a battle against time.

The game was also met with mostly positive reviews citing it's great graphics, in depth storyline and revamped battle system as the main reasons for the game success. XIII-2 hoped to gain off the success of the previous title by improving many of the things people disliked about the first game and adding new things like cinematic battles where you can control the cut scenes and what happens in them.

Although we only have time to talk about three FF games, I think it is known by most the Final Fantasy is a solid franchsie with an great new things ready to come. FF XIV is supposed to be an online game where people from all around the world can continuously play with each other.

If you haven't played an FF before, they are a must have and most can be downloaded for super cheap in the PS store for both PS3 and Vita. Until next time guys, keep faith alive

Resident Evil 6: The Mercenaries

With the release of Assassin's Creed, WWE 13 and Halo for in the past few weeks, gamers are probably not sure where to devote their time. Capcom played it smart waiting until now to lock back in faithful dead with the release of new maps for The Mercenaries.

Depening on where you pre ordered your game, you may have gotten 1 of the 3 new maps along with the title. For those of you who waited until on or after release date, you probably didn't get any. Now, all 6 maps are available for any user straight from the new and improved PSN store.

The Mercenaries is a time attack game that has been around for a few of the past Resident Evil titles that can be played solo, split screen or online. The game starts off players with 2 minutes and the goal is to kill as many bad guys as possible in the time. Throughout each level you grab extra time bonuses to increase the amount of seconds you have to slaughter your enemies.

The game starts with one map and two others can be unlocked by completing Chris and Jake's campaign. As stated before, the other 3 are available for download from the store but were also giveaways depending if and where you preordered your copy from.

The Mercenaries allows you to use 8 characters, 3 by default and 5 others are unlockable through the campaign and through your performance in The Mercenaries itself.

Urban Chaos is the first level and arguably the easiest to progress through. Smaller than the rest, the time extensions are easy to find and finding a place to back yourself against a wall and let the undead come to you is fairly easy. Herbs are also easy to find which makes staying healthy pretty easy. Zombies are the main bad guy of this stage and also roam in the Catacombs and Mining Depths while the J'avo are all over the Rail Yard, Steel Beast and High Sea Fortress.

Because I personally enjoy zombies more, the Catacombs and Urban Chaos are easily my favorite stages.

The time increase are gold bars that you can break while you may come across some green ones too. They allow you to have a small window where all the amount of points for each kill in the duration is multiplied by 1000, so wait to break these until you are sure that you have a slew of targets you can easily pick off.

Each character comes equipped with different weapons and aids. While Chris is still my favorite with a machine gun, magnum and knife with no health, I also enjoy Sherry who has a triple shot handgun, magnum and stun rod with two red herbs waiting to be mixed.

The ranking system is based on the amount of points your character gets during the time. Points are collected by killing the evil beings and is greatly increased when a combo is created (Personal Best: 93). To create a combo kill a bad guy and within 15 seconds kill another. May sound easy but when the clock is draining and the bad guys are hiding, it becomes a little more difficult!

The Mercenaries also allows players to pick up more skill points which can be redeemed for things within The Mercenaries like item drop increases or extra time and can also be used for things related to the campaign.

The Mercenaries gives Resident Evil 6 even more replay value. Once I finished everything solo, I went online and it was like starting all over again. Worthy of being a game on its own (and I think it already was) The Mercenaries mini-game is enough to keep you glued to your seat for weeks after you finish the campaign.

Until next time, keep killing those zombies!

Street Fighter X Tekken: Ryu meet Jin

2D fans have loved Capcom’s Street Fighter since the early 90’s. As PS1 garnered better graphics and more possibilities, Namco released Tekken, their 3D fighter. But the idea of putting the two brawlers head to head was just a wish the imagination of loyal gamers… until 2012. In honour of the Vita release of Street X Tekken, let’s talk a little bit about the game.

SFXT was originally released for the PS3 earlier this year. It focused around Mishima Zaibatsu and Shadoloo both trying to find a classic artifact in order to use it for their own evil ideas. Unlike MVC3, each character has their own specific partner they can do attacks specials with and will lead to their actual storyline and ending. Usually someone the character is friends with like Ryu and Ken, the game also pits otherwise normal enemies like Asuka and Lily together as teammates for some comic relief.

The game follows the classic 2D arrangement like other Street Fighter games as it was officially produced by Capcom (look out for Tekken Vs. Street Fighter, Namco's release in the not so distant future) and let's players pick two characters for their team. The controls system is also similar to that of Street Fighter so all ye Tekken faithful, be prepared to learn some new moves.
While the fighting system is fairly similar to that of Street Fighters, it left out (or changed) some of our fighters classic moves which can be a bit of a pain.
Something new to the game is the gem fighting system. Each character can have three gems which can be purchased from the store or earned in the game. The gems work as power ups for thing like increasing the strength of attacks or temporarily boosting defenses.

The game however was missing a few characters at launch and was seen as incomplete. Within weeks, they released a free download for MegaMan and Pac-Man, classic characters from the Capcom and Namco franchises who had never actually been seen in a Street Fighter or Tekken game to date.
The game also surprised us with Cole, star of Sony's Infamous and Toro and Kuro, two of their cute little cats.

Because the game is a crossover, it does not follow any storyline and don't expect the events to be referred to in any game from either franchise in the future (except maybe Tekken X Street Fighter)

Graphics 8/10
Gameplay 7/10
Fun Factor 7.5/10
Replay Value 7/10
Overall 7/10

Overall, the game is sadly a little disappointing. Street Fighter IV (and all the updates and new versions) was an awesome game title boasting beautiful graphics, great stories and an awesome fighting system. The most recent Tekken Tag was also one of the most well received game from the franchise. But this one felt like it was lacking. Maybe the change in controls or lack of flashier moves, I'm left feeling like I need to pop in MVC3 or TT2 every time I finish a round.

One redeeming factor is the games cross functionality with the Vita. Players that own either system can battle against each other which makes it great for gamers who like to game on the go and want to continue battling their friends from home or on the go. Hopefully we see more of this in the future. Until next time guys, keep gaming!

Resident Evil 6: The Evolution of Evil

October 2nd brought us the latest installment to the survival horror franchise that has held a special place in our hearts for almost 20 years and for anyone not sure of how it stacks up against the rest, be prepared to be blown away.

Resident Evil 6 focuses around 7 characters and introduces 4 original stories that intersect with each other. The stories focus on returning characters Chris Redfield - former STARS front man and current BSAA leader. Leon S Kennedy - everyone's favorite Raccoon City police officer who currently works for the government. Sherry Birkin - The sweet little girl from Resident Evil 2 who just wanted her parents who is now all grown up and a trained fighter. And Lastly, Ada Wong - the woman spy that no one quite knows if they can trust.
New to the series are Helena Harper - security for the President, Piers Nivens - second in command in the BSAA and Jake Muller - a man known to be immune to the virus and possibly the son of a former Resident Evil bad guy. The characters are all fighting for reasons of their own and happen to continue to cross paths. With such different personalities, you can be assured there will be a few fights between the protagonists.

The gameplay is like an improved version of that from Resident Evil 5. It carries all the tweaks from that game and brings in some new features like being able to run and shoot at the same time (finally) a real melee system and the option to run and dive into cover or attack. It also brings back the emblem system they had in five which you can search out and shoot for extra points.
The game can be played by yourself or with friends for 3 of the 4 storylines. The mercenaries game is back allowing users to fight with their favorite characters solo, split screen or online in a time attack battle that rewards the player with skill points that can be put towards things like more ammo pickups, faster health refills and unlimited ammo.

The story picks up shortly after the events of Resident Evil 5. Chris is back and a drunk?! Found in a bar by his second in command, Piers, Chris has lost his memory over a traumatic event and turned to the bottom of a bottle to solve his problems in Edonia. The first two chapters of his story is him remembering what happened to cause his memory loss and shaping up what he plans to do after he remembers what happened.
Leon is back in the states trying his best to come to terms with the fact he had to shoot his friend and employer who just happens to be the president, after he turns into a zombie. Struggling to understand how this could be happening again and searching for answers that are promised by a new ally named Helena, Leon works to unearth who is behind the most recent and possibility devastating zombie outbreak.
Jake is a mercenary given a drug that is supposed to be an ability enhanced. Taking the drug at the same time as everyone else in his crew, he notices nothing happen. However, his partners are all turning into what he learns from Sherry are called the J’avo; an evolution of the zombies that had tormented her as a child. She explains to him that his blood may be the cure to what is happening to these people and the two embark on a journey to come up with a vaccine.
Ada returns aiding Leon and tormenting Chris. Ally to one hero and villain to another, no one quite knows what Ada’s true intentions are.

The game was met with mixed reviews, citing it’s glitches as a reason to not play the game. Despite its imperfections, Resident Evil brings a whole new generation of evil with new characters, a new fighting system and over 3 hours of cut scene footage. The game makes for tons of replay value with different 4 different stories and 7 different perspectives.

Graphics 10/10
Gameplay 10/10
Fun Factor 10/10
Replay Value 10/10
Overall 10/10

It may seem like it is too good to be true, but Resident Evil truly is a game that covers all its bases and makes for a game that can enjoyed time and time again until the next one is released. As stated, the special edition comes with Resident Evil 1-5 so for first time players, pick it up and enjoy the horror from the start!

PlayStation Vita: Worth it's weight?

The Vita has been out for over 6 months and now its time to check on if it is really worth the cash.
At 249, the Vita isn't something that our cost conscious gamers can but on a whim, so the question of whether or not it really lives up to its price tag is a valid one.

The Vita comes with a 5 inch touch screen that is compatible with most Vita games. This gives users the option of using the screen or the classic 6 button keypad with the 8 point directional pad. It also improves over the original PSP with adding an additional joystick to match the Playstation controller.
The Vita brings back the internet connection that the PSP had and improves the user experience with a more user-friendly web browsing experience. It also incorporates applications so you can keep up to date with your Facebook feeds on the go. The North American version was originally to be launched with a 3G version as well as WI-FI, however the 3G was scrapped a few weeks before release due to poor sale projections and time limitations.

The system was launched with just 5 titles but has steadily increased its library since however it still lacks some of the heavy hitters available for the PS3. With that being said, there is a connectivity options that allows users to play games that are available for both systems. For example, if you purchased a game for both your PS3 and Vita, you could start a match on your home console, save and continue it on your Vita. This is exciting for people who enjoy playing on the go as well as at home.

While the system has a lot of features, and if done well, is well worth the price, the fact that next to no games are available to do this yet makes the price a hard pill to swallow. That combined with the fact that the game selection is still weak and the fact that it doesn't use UMD's, making your original PSP library obsolete, has people thinking twice about whether or not it's a needed investment.

If you are a Playstation loyalist like ourselves, you have already gotten the system regardless of its downfalls. For those not sure about whether or not the system deserves your attention, there is no doubt the Vita has some great surprises on the horizon. Maybe it might be a smart Christmas buy, because when it comes to gaming on the go, the Vita has made sure you'll have hours of fun.

Resident Evil: Start your chainsaws!

As the minutes draw closer to midnight, and Resident Evil fans slowly pack into this small game store, the nostalgia of the greatest survival horror of all time starts to set in.(And we secretly hope there is a zombie outbreak so we can start using the tips we have learned from the games!)It seems that Resident Evil isn't just a gaming franchise anymore, but arguably, a lifestyle.

While the movies are loosely based on the games story line and the acting usually does leave something to be desired, it has a cult following that are willing to go time and time again to see what trouble Alice has gotten thrown into and how she plans to punch, shoot and torpedo her way out of it. And even though she isn't a character from any game, she has still managed to win the hearts of most Resident Evil fans.

The live action movie isn't the only adaptation that has been made. There have also been two animated movies that were wildly popular. Resident Evil: Degeneration starred fan favorites Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, making their way through more seemingly impossible situations and doing it in style. Leon, who returns this year in Resident Evil: Damnation, made an appearance in the live action movie and is a main star in the upcoming Resident Evil 6 game title.

Movies aren't where Resident Evil stops. There has been more than a few comic book adaptations as well. The graphic novels star multiple characters from over the years in addition to new ones that have been added for twists and turns. Usually used to fill in the blanks between games, the comics and gotten a following of their own and are usually a hard read to put down.
Searching Resident Evil images on any online search engine will bring you multiple fan art images. People love the opportunity to show their appreciation of the franchise by leaving their drawings online to be remembered until the end of time.

What good is a popular franchise without action figures. (That's right, not toys, action figures!) Resident Evil has characters from every game ever made encased in plastic so you can decorate your room with their sweet anti-zombie paraphernalia.
Whether its the case to your phone or drinking your booze from collector cups, the popularity of Resident Evil cannot be denied. The countdown is coming to an end and soon the unboxing will begin.
If you haven't pre-ordered your copy of the zombie killing soon-to-be-classic, you may be out of luck with finding a copy on release date. So feel free to share our copy as we will be posting as much as we can about it.
Be sure to look out for pics videos and a review as the week progresses. Until next time, keep gaming!

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of Two Worlds Lie in the Balance

Imagine if you could be Spider-Man and swing your way into a battle. And when the webs got boring, you could slice and dice some people like Dante from Devil May Cry. Well that is a reality with Marvel vs. Capcom 3, allowing players to take people from both the Marvel Universe and fight with or against people from the Capcom world.

With the countdown to Resident Evil ticking away, we thought it would be fun to talk a little bit about something else Capcom has released that made us smile. MVC3 was one of Capcom’s biggest blockbusters in the past few years.  Taking characters and stages from your favorite superheroes and adding them in with characters from your favorite video games, MVC3 allows users to experience what it would be like if these two massive worlds collided. And as you may have guessed, there is lots of fallout!

Marvel vs. Capcom was originally released in 1998 after the original successful release of the X-Men vs. Street Fighter. It was met extremely positive reviews by the people who played the original games as well as those who wanted to have a wider variety of characters. The game paved the way for crossover games which became very popular throughout the late 90’s and are still to date.

MVC3 places 3D characters in 2D stages. The music and gameplay comes previous Street Fighter and Marvel crossover games. The original release of the game came with 40 characters and 2 were downloadable from the store. The game was re-released with 12 new characters and gamers that have already downloaded the extra characters are allowed to import them to the new game free of charge.

The story focuses on Galactus coming to destroy the Earth and the two worlds join together in ours in order to protect us from being engulfed. While the most fun can be had playing online, there is also a single and multiplayer option accessible without connecting to the internet.

MVC3 introduces a tag attack that allows gamers to launch their foes into the air and continue combos before smashing their opponents to the ground. It also introduced X-Factor which gives players the ability to boost their strength and speed, along with regenerating health for a limited period of time which becomes longer if the player has lost characters or a lot of health.

Graphics – 8/10
Gameplay – 8/10
Fun Factor – 10/10
Replay Value – 9.5/10
Overall – 9/10

If for some reason you still haven’t gotten this games, it’s a must have for any fan of Marvel or Capcom. Even if you don’t normally enjoy fighting games, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has a way of charming itself into anyone’s heart.

Don’t forget in a few days, Resident Evil will be released, be sure to check back next week for a full review of the hands on and unboxing.  Until next time, enjoy playing!

Resident Evil: Looking back

Since 1996, Resident Evil has been scaring the heck out of people in the discomfort of their own homes.
Resident Evil was originally set in a mansion, located in Raccoon City. Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton and Albert Wesker, all members of the STARS (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) entered Raccoon City after receiving phone calls about their being multiple disturbances with people acting like cannibals.

They went to the town and were chased by some creatures into the mansion. What came next was unthinkable for both the characters and the people playing. Resident Evil introduced zombies, along with a large set of additional monsters that chased our heroes all over the mansion laying waste to their teammates and back up.

Through the years, we have been introduced to many more fan favorites like Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Ada Wong, Rebecca Chambers and many more. These characters have fought through zombies, undead dogs, mutated frogs and many more creatures that would be enough to make even the coolest cats jump at the sight. As the years have passed, we have seen a set of new viruses that essentially are evolved versions of the original virus, allowing the victims to do much more than your average zombie, such as communicate with each other, and operate weapons and even drive.

The story was fairly simple. Umbrella Corporation had been doing testing with drugs that created the zombies and other creatures. At first it was thought to be a horrible accident but we soon learn that Wesker was actually a double agent and working for Umbrella the whole time. His plans were much more sinister and wanted to use the viruses to create a world that would be subservient to him.

For those of you those of you that are fans of everyone’s favorite antagonist, if you played part 5, you know the likelihood of Wesker returning is slim but if you’re like me, you’re hoping for a way for it to happen.
Resident Evil has been Capcom’s most profitable franchise surpassing Street Fighter which has about ten years on the gaming super power. With Resident Evil 6 just around the corner, only time will tell how Chris, Leon and newcomer Jake, are going to work their way through the craziness of the walking dead.
If you are having trouble waiting for the newest edition to the RE franchise, feel free to download some of the older games from the store or the brand new demo that showcases some of the new features of the survival horror.

October 2nd is release day so you have until then to practice your skills and find a way to protect yourself from the flesh eaters and gun wielders!

Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Anyone need some assisstance?

Hey Gamers, today, we at PSGamersNation have quite the treat! Straight off the shelf, we are playing Tekken Tag Tournament 2, the latest installment in the Tekken franchise. For those of you unfamiliar with the 3D fighter, Tekken has been taking 3D gaming to the next level since 1994. The game centers around the Mishima family and their version of family values.
Since Tekken 1, where Heihachi through Kazuya off a cliff and told him that he would need to climb his way out if he wanted to be part of the family to now where Kazuya and Jin square off to see who possess the devil gene better, Tekken has been known for its outrageous story lines, beautiful graphics and advanced fighting engine. Tekken Tag 2 does not disappoint.
Over the years many of the Tekken characters have died, disappeared or simply retired from the fighting scene. TTT2 brings back almost every character from all of the 6 games that have graced TV and Arcade screens over the past 20 years. Don’t think you’ll be able to just jump in, Tekken has given the characters new/improved move sets which may make it difficult if you have skipped the past few releases, however, the move list is still similar so the learning curve won’t keep classic gamers struggling to figure out what to do for too long.
The levels have been improved with better graphics and more interaction such breakable walls. The frames have been increased so the characters movements look more human. Although there are more than 40 players to start, which makes it the most characters in any Tekken game ever, there are still plans to make more characters downloadable so don’t fret if your favorite isn’t there right off the bat, they could become available at a later date. Lastly, the online mode is much better allowing characters to practice against the computer while waiting for an opponent and rankings are still worldwide.
Where TTT2 could improve would be adding an actual storyline/campaign mode for those users who like some adventure and making the online play free.
